The One Man Epic website has been created for the public to monitor the progress of Tom Smitheringale who set out from McClintock Inlet at the northernmost edge of Canada with the aim of reaching the geographic North Pole solo and unsupported.

Whilst being information rich, the website sports an engaging and thematic design, based on the harsh polar elements. Navigational and orienteering equipment has also been introduced into the website design, contributing to the overall look and feel.

Functionality includes a blog, RSS feed, secure donations payment gateway, SMS updates, image galleries, interactive flash elements and strong social media presence including Twitter and FaceBook integration. Website content and expedition status elements are controlled using a PHP/MySQL CMS. All HTML is 100% W3C valid and the site degrades nicely with alternative text based content for accessibility.
